Ian Haynes
Tax Director
Ian joined Haines Watts in August 2019 as Tax Director after working for another Edinburgh based firm of Chartered Accountants for the past eleven years. Originally from Lancashire, he first began his tax career in the early 1990s, working for HMRC, and after spending eight years there, decided to make the move and began working in practice. In 2008, Ian (and his family) made another move when they relocated to Scotland.
With over 25 years’ experience in tax, Ian has acted on behalf of a wide range of clients – from football managers to vets, authors to oil executives, and everything in between. Ian specialises in residence matters, HMRC enquiries, tax planning and all aspects of the Enterprise Investment Scheme.
Ian’s aim is to give his clients the most tax efficient solution for their tax affairs, in a way that is understandable and clear, by using his wealth of experience and knowledge.
When not at work, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. He’s also a keen mountain biker, and likes to spend time out on the bike trails around the area.
