1. The variety
One of the most interesting parts of working in audit is the sheer variety that it offers. From engineering to hospitality, our audit team get to work with companies from all kinds of different industries. This also means that you have the opportunity to learn about the ever-changing business needs, trends and pressures that come with these sectors.
2. Client relationships
Working with a huge variety of industries also means that you get to meet new people all the time, giving you the chance to develop lifelong relationships. Our thing is working with different people, but it also means that you’re not bound to your desk all of the time! Our audit team is often out and about across the UK and internationally meeting clients, so your environment is constantly changing.
3. Understanding businesses
When it comes to conducting an audit, you get to know each organisations inside out, allowing you to build up an understanding of how businesses operate on a day-to-day basis. One of the most rewarding parts of working in audit is using these insights to provide recommendations which add value to our clients' businesses. This can really help them to achieve their goals and support business growth.
4. Thinking outside the box
When you’re faced with dilemmas which present themselves in the audit process, you really have analyse and think outside of the box, to come up with remedies to these problems. This can indeed be challenging, but it’s rewarding to find the right solution nonetheless.
5. The mix of independence and teamwork
As well as analytical skills, the audit career path gives you a sense responsibility from the get go. The profession requires you to manage your own work load and prioritise straight away. The result of this is that you get a sense of ownership over your own work, and a level of independence from the start of your career and throughout.
The combination of freedom, flexibility and independence of workload, isn’t something that’s readily available in every career path. This said, you still work closely within a team all the time. The benefits of this are really far-reaching, by foremost you get to learn from one another, and support each other. Ultimately meaning that you have strong relationships with your team, as well as your clients.
