Background

Complete Security Recruitment was founded in 2005 with the ambition to fill a gap in the market and provide a truly bespoke recruitment solution for both candidates and clients in the electronic fire and security industry.

Through an investment in leading technology and methodologies, and a commitment to their original vision, the owners have driven the company’s success and achieved significant growth over the last few years.

Building on this success, the directors have taken on other business ventures and plan to diversify further over the coming years.

The challenge

From the outset, the directors has a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve with the business in terms of reputation and growth. Having put the building blocks in place, ten years on the business has seen steady year on year growth and turnover for the group is now in excess of £2M.

However, the owners were at a point where they recognised that they were struggling to free themselves from the day-to-day pressures of working in their business. They wanted to focus their time and energy on the strategic direction of the business and their broader ambitions.

It also became evident that the owners needed to review the structuring and tax positon of the business to ensure that they could facilitate expansion in the most tax efficient way.

The owners were at a point where they recognised that they were struggling to free themselves from the day-to-day pressures of working in their business.

How we helped

Our relationship with the owners has evolved as the business has been growing. At the outset our focus was on the provision of high quality compliance services which ensured that the business was meeting its statutory obligations but also doing so tax efficiently.

As we spent more time talking to the owners and understanding their long term goals, we were able to help them put in place better systems and processes for extracting meaningful financial and management information. The owners now have a clear picture of the position of the business which in turn enables them to make more informed decisions about long-term plans and investments.

We meet quarterly with the owners to review planning and progress and act as a sounding board. We provide that objective view that challenges the owner’s but also helps drive their agenda forward.

Over time, we have restructured aspects of the business so that funds could be released which could be reinvested in growth and new projects. Additionally, the personal tax potion of the owners has been improved enabling them to extract profits tax efficiently and release wealth to invest in other interests.

Results

With the management information we provide, the owners can now make informed decisions about the change and investment they need to make in the business as they work towards achieving their goals over the next five years.

The restructuring of the business realised significant tax savings for both the business and the director’s personally.

The financial information we provide and quarterly reviews, have been especially valued by the owners they navigate their way through the Covid crisis and changes brought about by Brexit.
