Haines Watts sponsors record-breaking charity golf day for Hft

Haines Watts Swindon, a leading accountancy firm and one of the top twenty accountancy firms in the UK, sponsored a record-breaking annual Wrag Barn Charity Golf Day in Highworth.

The event, held on May 24, attracted nearly 80 golf enthusiasts and Wrag Barn members who participated in an 18-hole course, beat the pro and chipping contest at Wrag Barn Golf Club.

Attendees were treated to brunch, a two-course dinner followed by an exciting auction and raffle, all aimed at raising funds for Hft's essential programs.

An extraordinary £14,652 was raised for Hft, a charity dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities.

Established in 1962 by a group of visionary parents, Hft is a charity supporting more than 2,800 people in England and Wales. They are committed to creating a future where people with learning disabilities and their families can live the best life possible.

Hft provides personalised support, creates solutions for living independently, and campaigns for positive change. Their fundraising efforts open new opportunities, enabling them to make a bigger impact.

Martin Gurney, partner at Haines Watts, expressed his gratitude, stating, "We consider it a great privilege to support Hft and Wrag Barn in their fundraising in Swindon. For us, it is both a chance to contribute to an incredible charity and an opportunity to collaborate with our local community."

This year's fundraising effort marks a significant milestone in the 34-year history of the Wrag Barn Charity Golf Day, with the highest amount ever raised.

The funds will be directed towards core funded projects, including care matters, support practitioners, and Hft's friendship service, Luv2MeetU, enriching the lives of learning disabled individuals.

Emma Macdonald, Community Fundraising Manager at Hft, extended her appreciation to everyone involved, saying, "We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the 34th Wrag Barn Golf Day, our sponsors Haines Watts, and to Wrag Barn Golf Club for their unwavering support in aid of Hft."

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Haines Watts Swindon has sponsored the event, demonstrating their enduring commitment to making a positive impact in the local community and supporting causes that matter. To date the team have helped to raise around £44,000 for the charity.
