Neil has over 30 years’ experience of working with SMEs including audit, management accounting, corporate tax compliance, cash flow forecasting and raising business finance. He has particular expertise in auditing and advising regulated businesses, charities and pension schemes. He is also involved in advising high net worth individuals on taxation, property and investment matters and in assisting individuals registered under the Court of Protection, through the Office of the Public Guardian.

Steve is a qualified Accountant within the team at Haines Watts Chester. He deals with all types of businesses from many business sectors. Steve also helps with training and development of junior members of the accounts team. He specialises in the audit of Limited Companies and preparation of statutory accounts for Limited Companies, as well as dealing with VAT and Corporation tax matters.

I have worked within payroll for just over 30 years both within Manufacturing running an in house payroll and also working in Practice for the last 20 years looking after the payroll bureau’s. I have seen many changes during this time, which includes the introduction of RTI, Minimum wages, Auto Enrolment, GDPR and Furlough rules and regulations most recently. I have been with Haines Watts Chester since September 2020 and we are lucky to have a good team of Payrollers working for us.

I manage a portfolio of clients with the emphasis on providing bespoke proactive advice focusing on the client’s specific situation. I work with a wide range of businesses across a variety of different sectors to provide accountancy services including accounts preparation, VAT, bookkeeping, management accounts and corporation tax whilst helping the client to be as tax efficient as possible. I have over 20 years experience within the accountancy sector and the main aspect I enjoy of the job is helping clients and problem solving.

At Haines Watts Chester I work with the directors and teams to make sure everyone has what they need. I deal with client queries, in addition to HR, facilities management, events and credit control. I have worked in office management since 2008 and I love the fact that no two days are the same. In this role, you must wear many different hats and be willing to deal with anything and everything that comes your way!

I work mainly with emigrants from a variety of small and medium businesses across multiple sectors. Being an emigrant myself helps me to understand their problems and support them on every step in their journey, providing assistance with any problems they encounter along the way.
I love my role as I can show them that the sky is the limit, the wings are theirs and Haines Watts can help them fly.

I have worked in payroll since joining a firm of Chartered accountants in 1996, I was initially in the accounts department then moved into payroll, seeing it develop and grow from 1 employee to a team of 8! I have seen many changes and developments in payroll during this time with the introduction of RTI and Auto Enrolment being the most significant.
The introduction of Furlough was one of the most challenging I have ever had to deal with. I enjoy the variety of work that working in the payroll department brings.
If I wasn't doing this I'd be: In the Police
Dream location: Touring Europe in a Campervan!
After years in retail I took a change in direction and joined a small accountancy practice in 2002 which grew from a team of 3 to 12 before becoming part of a much larger organisation. During my time there I tried my hand at everything from reception/admin to VAT and accounts, finally choosing my home in payroll. In October 2022 I took the difficult decision to move to Haines Watts Chester and haven’t looked back. I enjoy the challenges that payroll brings and that no two days are the same.
If I wasn’t doing this I’d be: Running a craft and music shop.
Favourite past time: Outside of work I love being out and about with my family and dog or practising bass guitar with my husband.
My job is to assist clients with their bookkeeping needs. This involves inputting sales & purchase invoices, preparing & submitting quarterly VAT returns and reconciling the client’s bank account. I am also responsible for maintaining my client’s online bookkeeping software.
Dream location: New Zealand.
Hobbies: Baking & going on long dog walks.
I help to complete a variety of jobs within both bookkeeping and accounts, as well as briefly assisting in our tax department, all while beginning my AAT studies. The majority of work I do is from the accounts department, which involves analysing bank transactions, statements and invoices, as well as completing VAT reports. I enjoy learning about new systems and assisting however I can with the wide variety of clients we have.

I have 18 years of experience working in accountancy practices, mainly dealing with the completion of Tax Returns and liaising with HMRC. I manage my own portfolio of clients and always aim to provide the highest level of service and look to tailor any advice to the individual client’s needs. Although my main focus is personal tax, I also have experience in other areas, including payroll and company formations.

I work in the Tax department and manage a diverse portfolio of clients, which primarily consists of personal taxes. I‘ve been working in personal and employment taxes for the past 2 years and decided to focus more on the personal side since joining Haines Watts in July 2023. I believe it to be the more interactive and social side of tax, which I find to be crucial in enjoying my work life. I currently do this alongside studying my ATT/CTA exams.
If I wasn’t doing this I'd be: I either would have studied law or I would have moved to Australia and picked a career path to go down there, possibly still in tax/law, possibly not.
Favourite past time: I love to spend as much time as possible with family, my god-daughters in particular. Other than that, all my spare time is filled with sports/exercise.

Richard talks to our R&D clients to understand their projects and then uses his broad sector knowledge to present their technology to HMRC - in language that explains how it meets the guidelines. His goal is to minimise the risk to clients and to reduce the time spent defending claims at enquiry. He brings 25 years of technical writing experience to the role, along with five years of prior R&D tax experience.
I'm here for the extraordinary technology. Our clients' work is always interesting and constantly pushing the boundaries, which is what the tax relief scheme exists to reward. No two claims are alike so my days are very varied. Nothing beats the moment when a client realises you understand their work!
