It’s important that your employees feel they work in an environment where mental well-being is openly discussed. But what about if you’re a business leader? Who do you get support from when the pressure starts to build? Mental Health is important for businesses owners as well.

Running an SME is stressful. Most business owners find their position “emotionally exhausting” at some point. A significant number admit their relationships with their partner and children have suffered as a result of running the business. So, it is important to spread the load and seek help from other sources too.   • Make mental health in the workplace a topic that everyone can openly discuss.
  • Plan for the ups as well as the downs over a period of at least five years, so there are fewer nasty surprises.
  • Make sure you’re not the only decision-maker – find people you trust to share the load.
  • Find support and expertise outside of the business.
  • Focus on achieving work/life balance – being a workaholic is not a sustainable way of life.
